Cofresco Institute

The Cofresco Forum

Cofresco Frischhalteprodukte GmbH & Co. KG founded the Cofresco Forum in 2010 as the successor to the Cofresco Institute. The internationally aligned Institute was formed in 2001 with the aim of driving research in the field of household packaging. Over the past years, it promoted a variety of research projects. The topics ranged from “active packaging” to “modified atmosphere packaging” to eco-friendly packaging and other freshness processes. The Cofresco Institute was able to draw on a large network of scientific and business experts involved with the topics of food packaging, fresh-keeping and cooking, as well as the handling of food in the household. The Cofresco Institute was thus able to establish an international platform for scientists and experts, and generated a large number of ideas and scientific approaches within a comparatively short space of time in the specialist field of packaging and household packaging.

From Institute to Forum

Whereas the main function of the Cofresco Institute was to create an incentive for research into household packaging by offering research prizes, the Cofresco Forum aims to focus primarily on networking activities. The past awards succeeded in raising awareness over the years, which will now help the Cofresco Forum to expand its network.
The targeted exchange of ideas within the network will enable the Cofresco Forum to identify and support projects on a more efficient and individual basis.

Due to this change, Cofresco decided to rename the Cofresco Institute as the Cofresco Forum. The name “Forum” already illustrates the network’s principle of promoting the exchange of ideas. This website will act as a facilitator of such communication.

The Cofresco Forum in detail

This website serves as a key instrument of the Cofresco Forum and aims to initiate further interesting and individual cooperation projects. However, the Cofresco Forum also attaches great importance to personal meetings between members of the network. A major element of the Forum’s work will therefore be the regular hosting of scientific round-table meetings on the subject of household packaging.

The Cofresco Forum website is not only a research tool for experts in the field of packaging and food science, but offers them an opportunity to present their work to a wider audience. The topics are wide-ranging: from sustainability and health to legal regulations on waste disposal. Topics such as nutrition in connection with packaging, preparation and storage, as well as innovative packaging materials and technologies are all discussed.

You can send your work on relevant research topics to the following e-mail address: info(@)cofresco-forum.com
The Cofresco Forum team will then get in contact with you.
